Biblical Jordan Israel Tour 13 Days

Holy Land Tours: Jordan and Israel

Day 1: Departure – Amman

Departure City and Arrival into Amman, Jordan. You will be met by our airport agent and assisted through customs. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight Amman

Day 2: Amman – Jerash – Petra

Breakfast at Hotel, Amman City Tour of the most important sites of Jordan’s largest city, including stops at the Citadel, Roman Amphitheatre, and Nypheum. Then a 1 hour drive to Jerash and visit the remains of Gerasa, the best-preserved Roman City outside of Rome. Overnight Amman

Day 3: Amman – Madaba – Mount Nebo – Makawer – Petra

Breakfast at Hotel. Driving to Madaba to see the biggest mosaic map describing the Holy Land in St George’s Church dating to the 6th century AD.  After, travel to Mount Nebo where Moses saw the “promised land” for the first time. The Franciscan monks originally built a small church here to house early Christian mosaics. In 2016 a new church has been built. Drive to Makawer where John the Baptist was beheaded in Herod’s Castle. Overnight Petra

Day 4: Petra

Breakfast at Hotel, UNESCO world heritage site Petra visit. Explore the centre of the Nabatean kingdom, who occupied the site in the 3rd century BC lasting over 400 years. Located along historical trade routes between Africa, Asia and the Mediterranean, Petra flourished with prosperity. Discovered only 200 years ago, your full day site visit will cover the highlights of the mysterious capital city of the Nabateans starting with the narrow entrance called the “Siq” to the Treasury, Petra’s most famous sight. Continuing on, we will see pompous graves, ancient amphitheatre, facade street, royal tombs, and remains of the Cathedral. You will have the opportunity to walk to the Monastery and the high place of sacrifice in the afternoon. Overnight Petra

Day 5: Petra – Little Petra – Dead Sea

Breakfast at Hotel. Visit Little Petra before traveling to the Dead Sea

Day 6: Dead Sea – Baptism Site – Bethlehem

Breakfast in Dead Sea. Morning float at the lowest point on earth. Short drive to UNESCO Site Al-Maghtas where Jesus was Baptized by John the baptist. Travel to King Hussein Bridge, one of the few road crossings to Israel. Travel through the West Bank to Bethlehem. In the surrounds of Bethlehem we find Beit Sahur, known to the locals as the shepherd’s fields of the New Testament. Afterwards we visit the old town of Bethlehem with the Church of the Nativity, commissioned by Empress Helena in the 4th century AD. Overnight.

Day 7: Bethlehem – Nazareth – Tiberias/Galilee

Breakfast at the Hotel. On the way to Jerusalem visit Greek-Orthodox Mar-Elias monastery overlooking the countryside between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Then visit EinKarem, the birthplace of John the Baptist. Visit Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth with its famous mosaics and then travel to Tiberius and the Sea of Galilee. Overnight.

Day 8: Capernaum – Mount of Beatitudes – Golan Heights – Galilee

Breakfast at the Hotel. Start the day with a boat tour on the Sea of Galilee and visit the Church of the Multiplication in Tabgha. Nearby we will also visit Capernaum, the Church of the Beatitudes, the nature sanctuary of Banias. Overnight

Day 9: Galilee – Qumran – Masada – Dead Sea – Jerusalem

Breakfast at the Hotel. Visit Qumran, an archaeological site in the West Bank where the Dead Sea scrolls were hidden in a cave. Later we take a cable car up to Masada. Drive to Jerusalem. Overnight

Day 10: Jerusalem

Breakfast at the Hotel. We start the day with a drive to the Mount of Olives for views of the Old City. Follow Palm Sunday Road to the Church of all Nations, Dominus Flevit Church and the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed the night before his crucifixion. Passing the necropolis on the east side of the Old City, we will walk and pray along Via Dolorosa finally reaching the bazaar streets, the Church of the Holy Scripture, At. Anne’s Church and the pool of Bethesda. Late afternoon visit to the Jewish Quarter and the antique shopping street known as the “Cardo”

Day 11 Jerusalem

Breakfast at hotel. Walk to former temple square also called Temple Mount where we will see the Mosque of Al-Aksa and the Dome of the Rock (from the outside), two building dating back to the 7th century. Visit the West Wall, the holiest place for the Jews (Wailing Wall). Visit Mount Zion and Formation Abbey with the Last Supper Room, the tomb of David and the Church of St. Peter in Gallivant. Visit modern Jerusalem. Overnight.

Day 12 Jerusalem – Tel Aviv

Breakfast at the Hotel. See the glass windows of the Chagall in the Hadassah Hospital of Jerusalem. Drive to Tel Aviv, located on the Mediterranean. See the modern townscape and Rothschild Boulevard. Overnight.

Day 13 Tel Aviv – Home

(Alternate Transfer back to Amman to go home dependant on guests origin)
